Spokane Humane Society's 19th Annual Parade of Paws is back and we have some very exciting news. It's our 125th anniversary!
This year, our fun-packed 2 mile walk will take place at the Forestry Shelter in River Front Park. We'll be celebrating our 125th anniversary and unveiling our new SHS Dog Park, while still saving lives on step at a time.
Parade of Paws benefits the animals at the Spokane Humane Society awaiting their forever homes. You, your dog, family, co-workers, and friends are all welcome to join in the fun to raise funds for animals in need. Please only bring your pet if they are friendly around other pets & their hoomans!
*Pre-order finish line lunches from BARK, A Rescue Pub during the online registration process by 6.10.22 to secure your lunches! There will be no other food available on-site.

Frequently Asked Questions
Will there be paper registration forms available?
This year, all fundraising will be done virtually on your social media channels & by email. If you'd like to fundraise in person, you can direct them to your fundraising page to pledge virtually.
How do I fundraise virtually?
Register as a lone dog or with teammates in a pack. You can dedicate your fundraising to your rescue pet & share their story to help create more happy endings like theirs. If you don't have a pet, you can dedicate it to one of our shelter animals. Post to your social media accounts, send emails and reach out in-person to raise funds. All funds raised will need to be donated directly on your Parade of Paws 2022 fundraising page.
What do walkers get?
If you show up day of the event or pre-register in-person & have secured $50 in pledges on your virtual fundraising page, the first 200 participants will get a Parade of Paws Sports Bag & $100 or more gets the first 200 registrants a Parade of Paws 2022 t-shirt.
Top Dog Row
You can be a Top Dog & get VIP Treatment. Top Dog's are the three teams that raised the most money. They will have a canopy, chairs and a table in a central location to celebrate their success in saving lives on step at a time, together!
Why is the event at a new location?
This year, we are celebrating our 125th anniversary & new SHS Urban Dog Park Unveiling at River Front Park!
Our vision for the dog park is to create a safe & family environment for urban dogs and their people. An outdoor space for our animal loving community which aligns with the mission of SHS to enrich the lives of animals and their companions through Support, Education, Advocacy and Love. The location of the dog park, and proximity to our adoption partner, Bark, a Rescue Pub, makes this endeavor more beneficial.
Can I bring my dog?
Yes! Please bring your dog to the event as long as they are friendly with other dogs & their hoomans. In the past, we allowed other furry four legged friends to join, like goats! This year, due to the new location, we ask that you bring your dog only. If your dog is not pet/human friendly, you can still participate without them or use the virtual walker option in registration!
Will there be a microchipping/vaccination clinic during the event?
Each year, our clinic generally provides microchipping & vaccinations prior to walking the event. This year, we will not be providing this service due to the new location. After May 1st, check out spokanehumanesociety.org & click "veterinary clinic" to schedule a low cost appointment.
What other fun activities will take place this year?
On June 18 after you finish your 2-3 mile Parade of Paws Pledge Walk, you will have the option of being served lunch at the finish line from BARK, A Rescue Pub! You can choose whether to take part in this while you are signing up for registration. There will also be a photobus, 21+ Beer Garden, SHS Urban Dog Park Unveiling & an agility course demonstration.
Can I walk a shelter pet at the event?
This year, we will not be having shelter pets walked at the event due to the new location. You can say hi & potentially adopt a shelter pet at the event! Our New Hope Express Transport Vehicle will be present with some of our shelter pets awaiting their forever homes.
Do we have to register or can we just show up day of the event?
Please register so we have enough of the fun stuff for everyone! If you decide to show up day of event without registering, we ask that you provide a donation to the animals, whether that be $5, $10, or $100, the animals will greatly appreciate it.
Is this event kid/family friendly?
Yes! There will be fun for you, your pets & the whole family! Just please be sure to remember to plan for the 2-3 mile walk & determine whether your family & pets are fit to participate. We will have a 2 mile option & a 3 mile option.
